Irish athletes need funding to be able to compete on the world stage.
That's the view of Carrickmacross boxer Christina McMahon after the Government announced details of its €220 million ten-year National Sports Policy.
Shane Ross says he aims to double the funding for the 'Women in Sport' programme next year to €2 million - while €1 million will go to a dedicated programme for Disability Sport.
The Sports Minister also stated that he wants to see more gold medals at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in two years' time.
