The Cabinet sub-Committee on Education are considering plans for a phased return for students - particularly those with additional educational needs.
Meanwhile, the Education Minister is facing increasing calls from students to give clarity on the Leaving and Junior Cert, with just over four months to go until the first exam is due to begin.
But has the focus been taken off last year's sixth years who entered an unknown of University, or those who had already sampled normal third level education before it was interrupted by a pandemic.
