There are calls for new housing estate signs in Co Monaghan to be written in both Irish and English.
At a recent Ballybay-Clones MD meeting, Councillor Sean Gilliland said housing estate signs written only in the Irish language have been causing problems for delivery drivers.
After receiving a presentation on a new housing estate in Ballybay that is due to be called "An Clós", Councillor Sean Gilliland remarked that "English is the primary language" and needs to be on signage.
He said this would help delivery drivers and called for the signs to be in English and Irish.
Sinn Féin's Pat Treanor said he "fully agrees with promoting the Irish language" and he disagreed that it is a big issue.
He said Irish place names tell the story and history of the area and added that there should be no problems for delivery drivers due to Eircodes and apps like Google Maps.
However, Cathaoirleach of the MD, Richard Truell, agreed that the names should be in English and Irish and called for this issue to be addressed.
Councillor Hugh McElvaney also gave his support to housing estate signs being in both English and Irish.
