Cavan and Monaghan will be among the counties "most exposed" to the negative impacts of automation on employment.
That's according to Michelle Murphy, who is a Research and Policy Analyst with Social Justice Ireland.
The warning comes after the release of "Poverty Focus 2021", which has found that the border region has the highest poverty rate in the country, at 22.4%.

Michelle says this "on-going trend" of poverty in the border region, which compares to a national poverty rate of 12.8%, is "particularly concerning".
The Social Justice Ireland analyst told Northern Sound that the border region faces an "uneven" Covid recovery and says government supports will be needed to counter the long-term effects of automation:
