A Cavan councillor has expressed frustration that the Department of Education has yet to approve funding for two West Cavan schools that require “basic structural works”.

While Independent Councillor Brendan Fay said yesterday’s announcement of funding for the expansion of accommodation at Cólaiste Dun an Rí and Breifne College was “great news”, he says more respect needs to be shown to St Bricin’s and St Mogues.

Councillor Fay says “newly refurbished schools in bigger towns are receiving massive funding”, while the Department “keep turning down funding for basic work” in West Cavan schools.

He told Northern Sound that St Bricin’s and St Mogue’s “seem to have been forgotten” and he’s called on the Education Minister Norma Foley to explain why funding has not been forthcoming:
