A Cavan man living in Abu Dhabi says the country “has all their bases covered” to enforce strict quarantine rules after foreign travel.
Paul Wilson explained that anyone entering the emirate with a negative Covid test has to isolate for up to two weeks and wear a GPS tracker on their wrist.
While anyone who tests positive is sent to a government-funded field hospital in the desert until symptoms ease.

He says he’s lucky that the average age of people he’s in contact with is young compared to Ireland, meaning there’s less chance of passing the virus on to older or more vulnerable groups.
Paul Wilson told Shannonside Northern Sound there are harsh penalties if you’re caught outdoors during your isolation period.
