The local Chief Superintendent says people in Cavan and Monaghan have been very compliant with Covid-19 guidelines.

Gardai are increasing patrols and checkpoints to boost compliance for the final two weeks of Level 5 restrictions.

Chief Superintendent Aidan Glackin said the increased measures are more about reiterating the public health message rather than enforcing legislation.

He said the majority of people across the region are playing their part.
