Monaghan County Council didn't receive any tenders for a recent contract for
traffic calming measures.
The tender had been issued for works in Corcaghan and it was hoped work
would commence "as soon as a contractor was appointed".
However, no submissions were received and the County Council has contacted
several businesses to inform them that the contract had been re-advertised.
Councillor Hugh McElvaney said he expected the measures to be in place by
September.
However, he said he's "happy to see it re-advertised" because the works are
"badly needed to stop speeding".
In a statement to Northern Sound News, the County Council said it's
"confident of receiving submissions and it would be the intention to appoint
a contractor by mid-August and have these works carried out in Quarter 3 of
2021".
