Gardaí say they've no role in investigating a breach of public health guidelines by Councillor Paudge Connolly.
On Friday, Shannonside Northern Sound News confirmed that the former Cavan-Monaghan TD been in playing golf in Alicante just eight days before travelling to the controversial Oireachtas Golf Society dinner in Galway.
Spain isn't a green-listed country, meaning people returning to Ireland are asked to restrict their movements for fourteen days.
A Garda spokesperson told Shannonside Northern Sound News that the advice on foreign travel is not a Penal Regulation and as such they've no function in investigating Public Health Guidelines.
Independent Councillor Paudge Connolly has been unavailable for comment since the revelations on Friday afternoon.
