The Government has been called on to allocate funding for an inquiry into
the death of Shane O'Farrell.
He was killed in a hit and run while cycling on the N2 outside
Carrickmacross in August 2011.
His family have been calling for answers into his death as the driver of the
car had numerous convictions and had breached bail conditions.
They say despite this he was allowed to pass through a Garda checkpoint
shortly before the crash.
The Dáil and Seanad have both passed motions calling for a full public
inquiry but one is yet to be set up.
During a debate on revised estimates for the Department of Justice, Sinn
Féin's Justice Spokesperson Martin Kenny called for money to be set aside
for the inquiry to begin:
