Retailer Lidl hopes to replace and expand its supermarket in Castleblayney.
The German chain has applied for permission for the development at its existing site on the Monaghan road.
Lidl was originally granted planning permission for its current 1,600 square metre supermarket in 2006.
A subsequent extension to it was granted permission in 2011.
Lidl has now applied to demolish the store and replace it with a larger one.
It has applied for a single story outlet with an overall floor area of 2,300 square metre area.
It says the plans also include the reconfiguration of the current site layout, with car parking and a relocated entrance into the site.
The plans are currently at pre-validation stage with Monaghan County Council, with a decision on the project expected by the end of May.
