A local TD says a remembrance event held for an IRA volunteer was "taken out of context".
Sinn Féin in Monaghan and Fermanagh last night held an online event in memory of Seamus McElwaine, who was shot dead 35 years ago.
He was killed while preparing a landmine ahead of a planned ambush of a British Army in Fermanagh.

The event has been condemned by some, including the DUP, who described Seamus McElwaine as "an evil sectarian killer" as he's linked with 10 murders and attacks during The Troubles.
Cavan-Monaghan TD Matt Carthy spoke at last night's event and he has today defended it, saying it's important to remember all who died during the conflict.
But he said it was a "low key event" that had been "taken out of context":
