Local TD says smaller Electric Picnic festival could still go ahead

The festival was refused a licence yesterday.

A smaller version of Electric Picnic could still go ahead this year, according to Fianna Fáil's spokesperson for the arts.

Laois County Council yesterday refused to give the organisers a licence to hold the music festival in Stradbally next month.

The local authority says it's due to public health advice, which limits these events to 500 people.

The organisers of Electric Picnic say they’re extremely disappointed.

They’ve described it as a huge blow and set back to the entire sector.
