Locals urged to reach out if in need of support

Organisations have seen an increase in the number of people seeking support during the pandemic.

There's been an increase of 42 per cent in the number of young people seeking help from Pieta House this year.

And the suicide and self-harm charity says the number of under-18s contacting it has risen by 50 per cent year on year.

Depression, anxiety and low self-esteem are among the main issues people are concerned about, with uncertainty caused by the pandemic also having an impact.

Head of Pieta House Tom McEvoy is urging people to reach out and look for support and help.
