The loss of a fellow resident could deepen the trauma for other asylum seekers in Monaghan.
That is one of the concerns expressed by NASC, the migrant and refugee rights organisation, following the death of a male asylum seeker residing at the M Hotel in Magheracloone on Wednesday.
Fiona Hurley, policy and communications manager with NASC, says the lack of appropriate help available to people in these centres means vulnerable residents don't get the support they need.
She criticised the Government's failure to carry out vulnerability tests on those seeking asylum in the country, and called for adequate assessments and psychological help in their mother tongue for those in need.
