A man is being detained in Bailieboro Garda Station this morning over the possession of a knife.

Gardaí responded to an incident in the Cootehill area at approximately 3.30pm yesterday.

A man in his 40s, was observed by Gardaí in possession of a knife and subsequently apprehended by Gardaí.

No injuries were incurred during the course of the incident.

The man was arrested at the scene and is currently detained in Bailieboro Garda Station.
