The managing director of a Cavan nursing home says there needs to be a long-term focus on staff shortages within the sector.
Last week, a nursing home in Ballinasloe had to make an appeal to the HSE for immediate help after the majority of its staff tested positive for covid-19.
While Vicky McDwyer, of Esker Lodge Nursing Home, says they have enough staff in place to deal with the virus, she added that staffing is a challenge nationally.
