A woman seriously injured in a crash outside Roscommon town in 2016 has thanked the Monaghan paramedic who helped to save her life. Maeve Kelly

A woman seriously injured in a crash outside Roscommon town in 2016 has thanked the Monaghan paramedic who helped to save her life.

Maeve Kelly received serious injuries in the crash and it was thought at the scene that she may not survive.

Athlone based paramedic Brendan Clerkin, who's originally from Scotstown in Monaghan, was one of the first at the scene.

Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound today, Maeve praised him for this quick thinking in sending her to Tullamore Hospital - which she says helped save her life.

Maeve presented Brendan with a Scotstown GAA jersey signed by the senior team recently as a thank you for the role he played.

She explains why she decided to give him the jersey:
