Planning permission has been granted for a 27 meter telecommunications mast in Co Monaghan.
The works will see Emerald Tower Ltd remove an existing 15 meter structure from the site in Elvey, Emyvale, and replace it with a 27 metre high mast.
The planning application says the current mast is "operationally inadequate" as it is "too low and light".

The application adds the new structure will "substantially improve" the "poor coverage" in the area and "make a significant positive contribution" to the greater Elvey area.
The works were granted subject to five conditions, one of which is that the mast "shall be demolished, removed and the site shall be reinstated" when the development is no longer required.
