People in the region are being urged to act responsibly over St Patrick's Day.
The HSE's Department of Public Health North East has warned surges of Covid-19 have "pushed our hospitals and ICUs to capacity. partly due to gatherings".
Director of Public Health Dr Augustine Pereira has urged people to keep their "guard up" over the bank holiday to "protect themselves and their loved ones".
In a statement issued to Northern Sound News today he warned of the potential impact on hospital and other care services, saying celebrations should not turn "into super spreader events".
There's been good progress locally in reducing the number of new cases, with Monaghan gone from having the highest incidence rate in the country to the lower end of the table.
Cavan too has fallen to have the fifth lowest rate.
Dr Pereira says the drop "positively reflects" on the region but warned "positive steps can be undone and reversed very quickly".
