Sentencing of former choirmaster who pleaded guilty to stealing from Monaghan catherdral is postponed

These offences resulted in more than €143,000 being taken over the eight year period.

The sentencing of a former choirmaster who pleaded guilty to stealing from a Monaghan cathedral has been postponed.

David Drum is charged with 93 counts of burglary that took place at St Macartan's Cathedral in Monaghan town between 2009 and 2017.

The Courts had previously been told that these offences resulted in more than €143,000 being taken over the eight year period.

The 58 year old of Bridge Crescent, Parnell Park,Dundalk pleaded guilty last October, with sentencing due to have got underway before Judge Eoin Garavan yesterday.

However, Monaghan Circuit Court was informed that a probation report wasn't completed and the hearing would need to be moved to October to allow for it to be brought to Court.
