Seven motorists were caught using their mobile while driving in Cootehill in recent days.
The Roads Policing Unit in Cavan were out in the district over the past week and also seized a car in Crossdoney for not having insurance, NCT or tax.
In one evening in Kilcogy village, two motorists were recorded doing over 70 kilometres per hour in a 50 zone; while on the same day on the N3 near Butlersbridge, a car was detected doing 165 in a 100 kilometer per hour zone.

Fixed Charge Penalty Notices, penalty points and court appearances were issued to offenders, with Gardai urging people to slow down on the road and to never use a mobile phone while driving.
