Two local units tacked the agricultural fire for four hours into early morning

Fire crews from Castleblayney and Carrickmacross attended a “prolonged” waste fire in Inniskeen last night.

Two local units, backed up by a water tanker from Dundalk, tackled the agricultural blaze for four hours.

Chief Fire Officer in Monaghan Dermot Brannigan is using the incident to appeal to people to be aware of controlled burning regulations, especially during a dry spell of weather.

He reminded operators that they’ve a duty to carry out a risk assessment and contact their local Environment Section before burning.

Separately, fire fighters from Cavan town attended a tractor fire in the Butlersbridge area on Monday.
