Is there a future for newspapers in Ireland?

The unstable situation and the unpredictable future of newspapers and in particular local papers was one of the main messages at an Oireachtas Committee meeting last week.

The hearing was examining the proposed sale of the Celtic Media Group to Independent News and Media – which would see seven titles, including Cavan’s Anglo Celt, sold to the group.

Representatives from Celtic Media and INM, as well as Journalism and Communications Professors spoke at the meeting to outline their views on the merger.
