Amy Gilligan was just 11 years old when she was raped by a teenage boy.
The case went to court, and the 16-year-old was sentenced to five years in court with the last two suspended.
That was in 2001, and Amy who is originally from Athlone, is now 26 years old.
Last year she waived her right to anonymity to raise awareness of her campaign to amend the law surrounding the sex offenders act – she wants victims to be notified if a convicted sex offender appeals to come off the sex offenders register.
This is because of her own experience last year – and she joins us on the show to share her story (broadcast 27/06)
