Concerns have been raised about the preparation being done ahead of the winter season in Irish hospitals, as well as the lack of preparation to prevent major overcrowding and the large number of people on trolleys.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation released their figures for the month of October which showed 9,055 people were on trolleys; the highest figures since they started recording trolley numbers in 2006.
657 people were on trolleys in the four local hospitals last month. That's down from 883 in October of last year. However, Cavan General saw a slight increase in its figure. It was up by 12, to 51 year on year.
Sligo University also saw an increase but Our Lady of Lourdes in Drogheda and Our Lady's in Navan both saw a drop.
David Miskell, Industrial Relations Officer for the north east region with the INMO, joined Eddie Butler on the show and started by looking at the difference in trolley figures year on year.
