HEAR MORE: New figures show serious forestry imbalance across Ireland

New figures show a significant forestry imbalance across Ireland with Monaghan having one of the lowest percentage rates of lands planted.

Only 4.6 per cent of land in Monaghan is currently planted for forestry, the second lowest area percentage behind only Louth (2.9 per cent).

Meanwhile, 9.4 per cent of lands in Cavan are used for forestry, just below the estimated national average of 11 per cent.
