While Monaghan, Tyrone, Derry and Leitrim are just some of the counties to have exited the senior football championship on the opening weekend, Galway have found themselves parachuted into a Connacht final after Sligo forfeited their provincial semi final clash this weekend after a number of their panel tested positive for Covid 19.
The Yeats county board say they have taken the "tough decision" to withdraw from this weekend's game due to "unforeseen circumstances".
They have also expressed their frustration at the lack of an available re-fixture.
However Connacht GAA's CEO John Prenty says the Sligo county board did not request that the game be rearranged.
Galway could now claim the All Ireland title with 3 victories as they await the outcome of the other semi final between Roscommon and Mayo.
While in Ulster Cavan, will have to win the same amount of games, to just reach the provincial final.
