Leona Maguire sits after day one of the ANA Inspiration the first major of the year on the LPGA tour.
Maguire shot a five under par round 67 to sit in joint second place and one shot behind leader Patty Tavatanakit.
The Cavan woman opened her round two birdies on the first and second before hitting a bogey at the par four third.
Maguire through recovered with a birdie at the par five ninth, finding herself three under par after the front nine.
The Cavan woman then shot birdies at 12, 15 and the par five 18th to finish five under par shooting a round of 67
Tavatankait leads on six under par with Maguire tied for second place with China’s Shanshan Fang. A group of three sit on four under par, Thailand pair Moriya and Ariya Jutanugarn and Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist.
