| Irish super-lightweight ace Stephen McKenna closed the year with a knockout performance, flattening Des Newton in the third round at the Fly By Nite TV studio in Redditch on Friday night
The undefeated Monahan “Hitman” took his record to a perfect 7-0 with 7 knockouts as he destroyed Bere Alston’s experienced Netwon with a big right in the scheduled six-round contest. This was the second fight under a new long-term promotional agreement with Mick Hennessy that he signed last week before his fifth round stoppage of MJ Hall, but has featured on a previous show in September for Hennessy at the TV studio. All-action McKenna, 23, has thrilled with his exciting, attacking and hard-hitting style to live up to his title as one of the hottest young talents in world boxing. McKenna is delighted to close the year with such a devastating display and is already looking forward to beginning his 2021 campaign. |
He said, “I put on a good performance and I was enjoying it in there. I got the knockout in the end and I’m very happy with the win, seven wins and seven knockouts. I knew I was going to the knockout in there and knew it was coming, I was just working on some different things and it was only a matter of time until I landed.”
